Please read this carefully. Failure to adhere to these terms may result in cancellation of your account. Similar restrictions are used by all Internet Service Providers.

If you are new to the Internet and do not fully understand these points, please call CityWest Internet Services at 1-800-442-8664 or 250-627-7873 if you live in Prince Rupert.

•  CityWest Internet Services customers may not send unsolicited e-mail. Unsolicited e-mail is defined as any e-mail sent to an individual or group (whether the mailing list was bought or developed by the Customer) where the recipient or recipients have not specifically requested information or a response. E-mail includes information of any kind, advertisements, literary works, graphics, voice and video files, and any other material that can be contained in current or future implementations of e-mail.
 
•  CityWest Internet Services customers may not post advertisements to USENET newsgroups unless the newsgroup specifically states in its FAQ that advertisements are acceptable.
 
•  CityWest Internet Services customers may not use their Internet accounts to harass or abuse other members of the Internet community.
 
•  CityWest Internet Services customers may not post copyrighted materials, whether written, graphic, or in any other form, to any public site without permission from the author or creator.
 
•  CityWest Internet Services customers may not use their accounts to initiate any process intended to discover passwords, take others' mail, or decrypt others' information, nor will they attempt to obtain unauthorized access to any computer or computer network.
 
•  CityWest Internet Services customers may not use the system in a manner that encumbers disk space, processors or other systems resources beyond those allowed by the specific type of account. They may not make deliberate attempts to interfere with a service, overload a service nor attempt to disable a host.
 
•  CityWest Internet Services will react strongly to the use or attempted use of Internet services or systems without the owner’s authorization. This clause includes, but is not limited to, password cracking, defrauding others into releasing their passwords, denial-of-service attacks (sending packets with an illegal packet size, UDP flooding, ping-flooding, half-open TCP connection flooding, etc.) Additionally, CityWest Internet Services customers may not use programs, scripts, commands or send messages with the intent to interfere with a user’s terminal session.
 
•  CityWest Internet Services customers may not use their accounts for any unlawful purpose.
  
•  CityWest Internet Services reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account, at any time, for use considered unacceptable at the sole discretion of the CityWest Internet Services.

Public Notice to the Internet Community at large

Unsolicited commercial or bulk e-mail sent to any address within the citytel.net network is unacceptable, unwelcome, and not permitted.

Please contact abuse@citytel.net if you know of any violations of this policy. We will then pursue any violations of this policy with points of contact at the abusing domain and any/all upstream contacts. If the abuser is found to have violated the acceptable use policy of a remote network, CityWest Internet Services will insist on the enforcement of that policy. The administration of CityWest Internet Services does not allow their customers to spam, and will not permit the spamming of their customers.
 

Special notice for those who would spam email addresses within citytel.net, or any other domain hosted by CityWest Internet Services.

CityWest Internet Services does not authorize the use of its proprietary computers and computer network ("the CityTel Network") to accept, transmit or distribute unsolicited bulk e-mail sent from the Internet to CityWest Internet Services members.

In addition, Internet e-mail sent, or caused to be sent, to or through the CityWest Internet Network that makes use of or contains invalid or forged headers, invalid or non-existent domain names or other means of deceptive addressing will be deemed to be counterfeit. Any attempt to send or cause such counterfeit e-mail to be sent to or through the CityWest Internet Network is unauthorized.

Similarly, e-mail that is relayed from any third party's mail servers without the permission of that third party, or which employs similar techniques to hide or obscure the source of the e-mail, is also an unauthorized use of the CityWest Internet Network.

CityWest Internet does not authorize anyone to send e-mail or cause e-mail to be sent to the CityWest Internet Network that violates CityWest Internet's Terms of Service.

CityWest Internet does not authorize the harvesting or collection of usernames from the

CityWest Internet service for the purpose of sending unsolicited e-mail.

CityWest Internet reserves the right to take all legal and technical steps available to prevent unsolicited bulk e-mail or other unauthorized e-mail from entering, utilizing or remaining within the CityWest Internet Network.

Nothing in this policy is intended to grant any right to transmit or send e-mail to, or through, the CityWest Internet Network. CityWest Internet's failure to enforce this policy in every instance in which it might have application does not amount to a waiver of CityWest Internet's rights.
