CITYWEST IS DIAMOND SPONSOR OF PRINCE RUPERT’S BIRTHDAY.

Prince Rupert, BC. CityWest Cable and Telephone Corp., was the diamond sponsor for the City of Prince Rupert’s 100th birthday celebration sponsoring the evening fireworks display. As the diamond sponsor CityWest was given the honour of introducing Dr. Bill Hick, the guest speaker at the Centennial luncheon hosted by the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce.

Rhoda Witherly, a member of CityWest’s board of directors made the introduction: “It is most appropriate that CityWest be a diamond sponsor of the birthday as 2010 is also CityWest’s 100th birthday. Our company was purchased by the City in August of 1910 for $40,000. The purchase duly authorized by bylaw #11. Both the City and our company CityWest have had our share of ups and downs over the years but here we are 100 years later still standing and working together for our community.”

CityWest will be celebrating it’s own 100th birthday with an event in the summer. And will be unveiling a "100-years" section on the company website in the next few weeks.
