Trouble Shooting Digital Cable TV

Having a problem with your digital receiver?

Follow these instructions to ensure that your TV and digital cable receiver stay in sync:

To turn on TV and cable receiver:

  • Face your remote control toward the TV and digital cable receiver. Press PWR on the remote control, release, and wait for 10-20 seconds until both devices turn on.

To turn off TV and cable receiver:

  • Face your remote control toward the TV and digital cable receiver. Press PWR on the remote control, release, and wait for 10-20 seconds until both devices turn off.

If one is off and one is on and they keep jumping back and forth, here are instructions to get the TV and cable receiver in sync:

If digital cable receiver is on and TV is off:

  • On remote control: Press TV and then PWR and then CBL
  • Guide should come on

If TV is on and digital cable receiver is off:

  • On remote control: Press CBL and then PWR and then CBL
  • Guide should come on
  • IMPORTANT! If the guide does not come on, it means they are not in sync and you forgot to press CBL a second time. Please try again.


Quick Trouble Shooting

If you experience any of the following problems:

  • Black screen
  • Freezing /pixeling of channels
  • Recorded programs will not play
  • The guide is missing information
  • After a power outage or power surge, the digital receiver does not come back on

Rebooting your digital cable receiver may fix your problem.  To power cycle (reboot) your cable receiver:

  • Unplug power supply from wall
  • Unplug cable from digital cable receiver
  • Wait 10 seconds for everything to shut down
  • Plug it all back in again
  • It will take 5 to 10 minutes for the guide to reload and display the programming information.
