“A big thank you to CityWest for their support and service last week to troubleshoot both cable/pvr and internet issues. On the phone, support staff were friendly, knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Service was prompt, both with call backs and house calls...and I felt that each staff member went above and beyond to provide excellent service. It is obvious that friendly service and customer satisfaction are priorities at CityWest - at the counter, on the phone and in my home. I am a loyal customer because they care.”
Trouble Shooting Video on Demand
Video on Demand allows you to rent movies through your television at your convenience. Watch them when you want, rather than waiting for pre-designated start times. Movies are accessed through your set-top box and your television. Just like with a DVD player or VCR, you have complete control, including the ability to fast-forward, rewind, pause or stop a movie. You can view movies you rent as often as desired during a 24-hour period.
How many movies can I rent at one time?
There is no limit on the number of movies you can rent at one time.
If I get to the end of a video and want to watch it again, can I restart at the beginning?
Yes, if your viewing period has not expired, you may watch the movie again.
What if I watched only part of the movie I ordered and didn't get to watch the rest before it expired?
You will have to order the movie again.
Do my Parental Control settings for my digital TV service stay the same for Video On Demand purchases?
Yes. If you use the Parental Control feature to block content by rating, then all regular broadcast programs and Video On Demand programming that have been rated will be blocked according to your specifications.
What is the difference between Video On Demand (VOD) and Pay-Per-View?
VOD gives you access to a huge library of films, both new movies and popular favourites, which you can rent and watch at a time convenient to you. A Pay-Per-View program starts at a specific time.
Can I record a VOD or a Pay Per View show with my DVR?
You cannot record a VOD show with your DVR but you can record a Pay-Per-View show with your DVR.
Basic Trouble Shooting Tips
Exit all VOD programs or menus before troubleshooting. Set-top boxes may freeze when sending signals/changing account coding if you are in the VOD menu.
If the Video On Demand channel does not appear in your Guide:
- Reboot the set-top box (power it off, unplug the power cord, plug it back in and reapply power after the time displays on the LCD screen).
- Contact Technical Support, reference VOD trouble, and a “HIT” will be sent to the set-top box.
What if only the Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind Icons are on the VOD Screen?
If only the Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind icons are visible on the VOD screen, power cycle the set-top box to resolve:
- Turn the power off.
- Unplug the power and plug it back in.
- After the time displays on the LED, turn the box back on.
