PRINCE RUPERT – At a Prince Rupert city council meeting last night, Roy Henry Vickers was officially appointed to the CityWest Board of Directors.
“I’m pleased to have a prominent member of the international artistic community accept a position with our Board,” said Bob Long, Chair of the CityWest Board. “This will add a complementary perspective to our vision of delivering world-class services to the North. We look forward to working with him in the years ahead.”
Vickers, a current resident of Kispiox Valley, with roots in the Nass, is best known as an artist. His paintings are instantly recognizable, with their bold colours and distinct lines depicting the beauty of British Columbia, up and down the coast. Vickers has long-run his own gallery, and contributed as an artistic design advisor between 1987-1995 to the development of the new Vancouver International Airport terminal. Vickers was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 2006, and received the Order of British Columbia in 1998.
“As a CityWest customer, I’m looking forward to serving on the company’s Board of Directors,” said Vickers. “I especially like the company’s focus on connecting the North to the world at large.”
The CityWest Board of Directors is composed of seven members, who are appointed by the company’s sole shareholder, the City of Prince Rupert. For more information on the Board, please go to http://www.citywest.ca/about-us/board-of-directors
