CityWest Stands with Indigenous Stakeholders After Kamloops Residential School Discovery

Jun 01, 2021
After the remains of 215 children were found beneath a former residential school in Kamloops, CityWest is standing in solidarity with our Indigenous employees, customers, and partners across British Columbia.

“We have relationships with many Indigenous people in our offices, in our service areas, and across the province, and we are mindful that this horrible discovery is taking an emotional toll on everyone,” said Stefan Woloszyn, CEO of CityWest. “We encourage all levels of government and Canadians from all backgrounds to acknowledge the pain of this tragedy and create a space for healing, so we can move forward together.”

CityWest is working with many First Nations bands and other Indigenous organizations across B.C. to partner and bring Internet services to their communities. Many of the company’s staff members also have Indigenous ancestry.
