PRINCE RUPERT - Beginning May 24th, 2025, the 257 area code will be introduced provincially in British Columbia. This new area code will be added to the 236, 250, 604, 672, and 778, calling areas. The additional area code is being implemented to meet the growing demand for telecommunications services and numbers in the province.
The introduction of a new area code will not affect local and long distance calling areas, or prices.
Emergency calls (9-1-1) will continue to be dialed using three digits.
