“A big thank you to CityWest for their support and service last week to troubleshoot both cable/pvr and internet issues. On the phone, support staff were friendly, knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Service was prompt, both with call backs and house calls...and I felt that each staff member went above and beyond to provide excellent service. It is obvious that friendly service and customer satisfaction are priorities at CityWest - at the counter, on the phone and in my home. I am a loyal customer because they care.”
CityWest unveils cover of 2019 phone book

For the fourth year, a picture by local photographer Robb Rydde will grace the cover of the Prince Rupert phone book.
Rydde’s photo, of a wooden boat at Rushbrook Floats (pictured on right), is his fourth cover image in six years. Previously, he had submitted pictures of the moon over Hays Mountain, a sculpture near the carving shed, and a picture of the whale at Waterfront Park, which all made the cover.
“In the past, I only submitted one photo for the contest, and this year I couldn’t make up my mind between four photos. I put them up on Facebook, and my friends said to just submit all four – so I did,” said Rydde. “I’m quite surprised that the ‘wooden boat’ won.”
The picture features a wooden boat in the centre of the photograph, flanked by aluminum boats on a sunny Prince Rupert day.
“I was walking along Rushbrook Trail with my brother, and I saw the wooden boat through a clearing,” said Rydde. “You hardly see wooden boats anymore, and that’s what made it stick out – everything around it was aluminum. And I thought, ‘hey, that would make a neat shot.’”
CityWest received 75 submissions for the cover, which were weaned down to a top-10 by staff. Voting on those 10 photos began on August 24, and by the time the polls closed yesterday, there were over 1,200 votes, with Rydde’s photo capturing 51% of the total. Coming in second, with 16% of the votes, was a picture of “Hammy,” a deer that achieved near-iconic status for having part of a hammock strung in its antlers. Along with the glory of having the photo on the cover of the phone book, Rydde will receive three months of free CityWest services.
“We received a huge response to this survey, both in voting and on our Facebook page,” said Chris Armstrong, Director of Marketing at CityWest. “It was fantastic to see such engagement from our customers, and it’s an annual event that our entire staff looks forward to each year.”
The phone book will be distributed to all homes and businesses in Prince Rupert in November.
