As of November 30, 2023, the 9-8-8 suicide crisis line will be available to all Canadians in English and French, 24 hours a day and seven days a week. It will offer trauma-informed and culturally appropriate services by trained crisis responders by phone or text.

Alternative resource prior to November 30, 2023: if you or someone you know is currently in a crisis or looking for help, please call 1-833-456-4566 for the Canada Suicide Prevention Helpline at anytime, or text the Canada Suicide Prevention Hotline at 45645 (from 4PM to 12AM EST). Dialing 911 will get you connected with emergency services, or you can visit your nearest hospital.

Starting July 16th 2022, the United States of America will be fully implementing the use of the three-digit number 9-8-8. This transition will result in all service providers and covered text providers to direct calls and text messages that go to the number 9-8-8 to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
